Virginia Kolstad is a photographer specializing in landscapes, night photography, general nature and cityscapes. Her photography is intended to bring the 'outdoors indoors', to capture and share the beauty of the natural world around us. Most of her photos are taken in scenic areas of the U.S. with particular emphasis on U.S. National and State Parks, Seashores, Lakeshores and Monuments.
Virginia is a member of two camera clubs and has won multiple awards for her work. Most recently she won Second Place in the 2018 New Jersey State Senior Photography Competition with her photo 'Boardwalk'. She has also won First Place in the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council 2018 Expo for her photo 'Memorial View', First and Second place in the Advanced Amateur Division of the New Jersey State Fair and First Place in the Sparta Historical Society Exhibit "The Photographers Eye" . In addition to landscapes, Virginia is enchanted by the lights of our cities both during the day and at night. and by the beauty of the night skies. Whether it is fireworks, monumental sites such as the Freedom Tower or the Space Needle, or trying to capture the perfect Milky Way shot, she is always exploring ways to capture and share these beautiful scenes.
